Ride the Wave
I’m definitely not a surfer by any means, but the phrase “ride the wave” has carried so much meaning throughout my life.
Almost ten years ago, I found myself sitting in a therapist’s office trying to explain the anxiety, depression, and emotional heaviness I was carrying. The hardest part was that I didn’t really have the language for it yet. I just knew something inside me hurt.
I would try my best to explain what I was feeling, and after listening so thoughtfully, my therapist would gently say:
“Ride the wave, Falon.”
Not in a dismissive “just get through it” kind of way, but in a deeply encouraging one. A reminder that feelings rise, build, crash, and eventually settle. That I was capable of enduring hard moments without being consumed by them.
And over the years, I’ve ridden many waves.
Some were calm. Some felt impossible. Some nearly took me under.
But every single time, I made it through to calmer waters eventually.
This sticker is a reminder that feelings are temporary, healing isn’t linear, and even with my nonexistent surfing skills… I’m still here riding the wave.
