Authentically Me
This sticker might seem simple on the surface, but it carries an incredible amount of meaning for me.
For most of my life, I became really good at being who I thought other people needed me to be. I’ve always been someone who complements others well — like a chameleon in a way. I could blend in, adapt, keep the peace, make people comfortable… all while slowly losing myself in the process.
It wasn’t intentional. It wasn’t manipulative. It was automatic.
I cared deeply about other people and constantly put them before myself. I became the definition of a people pleaser with the very best intentions. But somewhere along the way, I neglected myself completely.
I ignored my needs. Stuffed down my feelings. Silenced parts of who I truly was for so long that eventually, I didn’t even know who that person was anymore.
One of the hardest parts of recovery and healing has been learning how to be authentically me.
And honestly? Before I could even do that, I had to face an even scarier question:
Who am I?
After years of living for everyone else, I truly didn’t know.
But through time, reflection, honesty, therapy, healing, and a whole lot of uncomfortable growth, I’ve started discovering myself again. Who I was. Who I am. And who I want to become.
Me. Fully, honestly, authentically me.
