My Story Isn't Over Yet
Most people are familiar with the symbolism of the semicolon, but I think everyone who wears it carries their own unique story behind it.
At the beginning of my recovery journey, I was hesitant to display mine publicly, even though a part of me really wanted to. I think I was still learning how to openly acknowledge my struggles instead of hiding them.
But after losing a friend to her battle with mental health, something shifted in me.
I decided to wear the semicolon outwardly — in her honor, in honor of every person who has lost their battle, and as a symbol of my own journey through mental health and recovery.
To me, the semicolon represents hope. Continuing. Choosing to stay.
A reminder that despite everything, my story isn’t over yet.
