Arm Candy
A little snapshot of what I wear every single day — this sticker is called Arm Candy.
At first glance, they may just look like colorful bracelets, but each one carries deep meaning for me. And yes, my Apple Watch is absolutely essential to me functioning as a human being on a daily basis.
The green bracelet is worn in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the historic floods at Camp Mystic and throughout the Kerr Valley community.
The larger beaded bracelet, pink and white bracelet, and heart bracelet represent Heaven’s 27 — the twenty-seven young girls who lost their lives while away at camp nearly a year ago.
And the bow bracelet in the center represents Mary Grace Baker, one of the girls of Heaven’s 27. Mary Grace is the granddaughter of my third grade teacher and a bright light within my hometown community.
The floods devastated countless families and communities near and far, and this is my small way of carrying remembrance with me each day.
I haven’t taken these bracelets off in months because even though these lives were tragically lost, their impact, love, and light continue to live on.
